UPDATE:
As a fan of the site pointed out, Sony announced that Horizon Zero Dawn would be a movie back at CES 2025.
That’s my bad! Totally forgot about that nugget on information. We did get a little context as to why it went from a series to a movie, though.
ORIGINAL STORY:
The Horizon series from Guerrilla Games has sold sold millions (and millions!) of copies across Zero Dawn, Forbidden West, and Call of the Mountain VR.
The overwhelming success of the series all but confirmed that it would receive some kind of live-action adaptation when PlayStation Productions launched.
Originally announced as a series on Netflix but while speaking with Variety, PlayStation Productions Chief Asad Qizilbash broke the news: after some ‘creative differences’, the team at PlayStation Productions have decided it will become a movie instead.
It just wasn’t creatively going how we wanted to.
If you remember this past summer, Rolling Stone reported that the Netflix Horizon series was dead in the water due to rumors and allegations against the showrunner at the time.
While the scope and backstory of the Horizon could be greatly fleshed out during a few seasons of television, a big-budget version with a major budget showcasing the robo-animals of the Horzion series could be awesome as well.
What about you, Brah? Were you hyped for the Netflix series or more optimistic about a movie adaptation?
