PlayStation Continues PS Plus Price Hikes, This Time for Canada

by Thomas Williams

Sony has been a roll lately, Brah!

They raised the prices of Digital PlayStation 5 consoles in Europe, the UK, New Zealand, and more countries.

They also raised prices on all three PS Plus tiers in over 15 countries worldwide.

Now, they’re increasing the prices of PS Plus in Canada, effective April 16th.

Playstation’s official statement that’s being sent out:

We want to let you know about an upcoming price change to your PlayStation®Plus subscription.

The price for your current PlayStation Plus Essential 12 month subscription will be increased to CAD 109.99. This price adjustment will enable us to continue bringing high-quality games and benefits to your PlayStation Plus subscription service.

This price increase will not take effect until your next payment date that occurs on or after June 24, 2025. However, any membership changes you make prior to your next payment, such as upgrades, downgrades or buying additional time, will update your plan based on the new prices. You can change or cancel your subscription at any time, details here. Please find the PlayStation Plus Usage Terms here.

Thanks for your continued support,

PlayStation.

The new official prices below:

PS Plus Essential 12-month subscription — $110 ( was $95)
PS Plus Extra 12-month subscription — $190 ( was $155)
PS Plus Premium 12-month subscription — $225 (was $190)

It wasn’t enough that Nintendo introduced $80 games with Mario Kart World, now PlayStation is pulling this shit.

Gaming isn’t a necessity, it’s an escape from the bullshit that life presents us at times. Charging us poor folks more isn’t going to help your overall profit, guys.

Hell, plenty of people will read this only to shrug it off. But when I’m paying $5 for some damn eggs, I’ll continue to not renew my PS Plus subscription.
