COVID Be Damned, Horizon Forbidden West Still Set for Release in 2021; DualSense Features Teased

by Thomas Williams

The COVID-19 pandemic turned the entire world upside down, impacting every facet of our everyday life, including our methods of entertainment.

It has hit gaming hard, with many major projects that were originally on tap to hit in 2021 being pushed until 2022. Sony will have dropped three 1st-party titles so far this year by the end of June –Destruction AllStars, Returnal, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Even as big as those games are, they might not be able to touch the level of popularity Horizon Zero Dawn has reached in such a short amount of time.

Sony has told us time and time again that the sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, will hit the PS4 & PS5 in 2021. Today, in a lengthy piece with Wired, it was once again mentioned that it’ll hit this year. But it hasn’t been easy.

GG had to send the voice actors recording equipment to get the dialog needed for the game. Then, to finish the game’s motion capture sequences, they used the newly built stages at Guerrilla’s new recording stage. Sony and their cloud technology, which has helped with play-testing for HFBW!

Guerrilla studio director Angie Smets says the DualSense’s unique features are the ‘special sauce’ that make the upcoming sequel so special on the PS5.

If you want to take a stealth approach to a combat situation and you dive into long grass, you can feel those long grass leaves.

The Horizon Forbidden West hype train should start after Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart releases this June. We can’t freagin wait to continue Aloy’s journey.
