Fight The Void In Rogue Flight…

by Mr. PSVR-2

Write this as a starfighter: Rogue Flight has been out since October 2024, and it is one of those games that brings nostalgia. It will test your skills with its beautiful art style and bullet-hell gameplay. But now, when you think you have mastered all testing, you are about to be tested even more with the Void Challenge. In the Void Challenge Mode, players start with only 60 seconds on the clock and must achieve and maintain combos to pause time. The higher the combo, the higher the score and the longer the player will last. The Void Challenge evolves depending on how much of the core game the player has completed. Players who have yet to finish the game will start the mode with the basic Vulcan and whatever upgrades they have applied, while those who have completed NewGame+ start with all the weapons unlocked and a Seraph upgrade in addition to any upgrades they have applied. The enemies and encounters evolve based on the player’s progress through the core game mode. Even the way the level looks will change, featuring remnants of previously completed stages and even the wrecks of past defeated bosses. The Void Challenge also includes a new song, “Ashes,” from Rinn.  Players who have yet to complete the game will be treated to an instrumental version of the song during the Void Challenge. However, those who have completed NewGame+ will get the full song with the vocals. Also, anyone with retro mode enabled can enjoy a 16-bit PCM version. But this is Rogue Flight we are talking about. A simple challenge cannot be the end-all; there has to be more. Perp Games and Truant Pixels also want to announce an ongoing chance for players to win some exciting prizes, from physical copies of the game, hats, t-shirts, pins, and stickers to 3D printed representations of the Arrow (the ship from the game).

Here it is, all starfighter-ified for you:

Rogue Flight, released back in October 2024, is a blast from the past, igniting that nostalgic spark in every pilot’s heart. The game takes you on a wild ride with its stunning art style and intense bullet-hell gameplay. Just when you think you’ve conquered every challenge, the Void Challenge is here to push you to your limits and beyond.

In the Void Challenge Mode, pilots start with a mere 60 seconds on the clock. Your mission? Achieve and maintain combos to manipulate time itself. The higher your combo, the higher your score, and the longer you can keep the clock ticking.

The Void Challenge evolves with your progress in the core game. Pilots who haven’t completed the game will enter with the basic Vulcan and any upgrades they’ve equipped, while seasoned veterans who have completed NewGame+ will start fully armed with all unlocked weapons and a Seraph upgrade, on top of their existing upgrades.

As you journey through the challenge, enemies and encounters adapt to your progress. The very environment transforms, showcasing remnants of previous stages and the debris of defeated bosses. This mode also features a new track, “Ashes” by Rinn. Pilots yet to finish the game will hear an instrumental version, while those who conquered NewGame+ unlock the full song with vocals. Retro enthusiasts can enjoy a 16-bit PCM version too.

But Rogue Flight always has more up its sleeve. Perp Games and Truant Pixels are excited to announce an ongoing opportunity for pilots to win a variety of prizes—ranging from physical copies of the game, hats, t-shirts, pins, and stickers to 3D-printed replicas of the game’s iconic ship, the Arrow.

This is how the challenge will work:

  • On the third weekend of every month, running from Friday to Sunday, players can take a screenshot from their best run, showing the high score.
  • This can be captured using the screenshot functions of the player’s console.
  • The screenshot can be submitted to socials using the hashtags #IntoTheVoid & #RogueFlight or sent directly to ‘Submissions@perpgames.com‘.
  • The winners from each competition weekend will be notified within seven days of the competition ending and will have a further seven days to respond. They will be notified via whichever means they submit their entry (X, Facebook, Instagram, BskyB, or email).

The new Void Challenge Mode will go live today, with the first weekend of competition starting at midnight on Friday, January 24th, 2025.
