Word has it that developer Housemarque stopped what they were doing to get Returnal out in time for the PS5’s launch window of availability, even putting a new IP aside to do so.
It appears it was worth the gamble. It was a available for one day on the PlayStation Store last month, Jumping to the top 5 in both North America and the UK according to official PlayStation numbers.
Returnal claimed the #3 spot in NA and #4 in the UK. Damn good for a game that was only available to purchase for one day in the month of April! Even though MLB The Show 21 was part of April’s Xbox Game Pass offerings, it didn’t stop it from top the digital charts in NA on the PS4 and PS5.
Beat Saber continues to dominate the chats worldwide on the PSVR side of things and might continue to do so even when the next-gen of PlayStation VR arrives in 2022.
