Before we ever get to touch it, the world already shifts to respond to our intentions. A living, breathing canvas that we can shape and mold to our will, structures of all kinds on the edge of collapse or of something new tremble with anticipation at the whispers of what we intend to do next. The tiniest intention or movement of energy creates massive impact on even the most tenuous of paths, the slightest perturbation sending the fragile string of a structure into catastrophic collapse as it braces itself for the impending change that will reshape it all. Every wall, every beam, every surface knows that it is only temporarily fixed in place and that any moment some spark, some collision, some creative shortcut will come along and totally remake it to better serve our purposes. As we move through the world of game, the terrain beneath our feet, the terrain of all of the objects in the world of game, listens to our every move. It absorbs the energy that we put into our actions, and it carries that energy with it as it vibrates through the surfaces of the world of game. Every single object, even the tiniest rock, anticipates the role that it will play as the game unfolds and becomes a stepping stone, a projectile, or the first domino in a chain reaction of collapse that totally remakes the landscape. Groups of players move through the world of the game, and the very environment itself starts to feel their presence. It begins to rise up like a very powerful, invisible tide as the player workforce collectively creates more and more complex challenges for each other in cooperative gameplay, experimenting with completely new play styles and attempting to completely destroy sections of the map in creative and often destructive ways. But the very environment itself is so incredibly, miraculously, fragiley flexible that it reacts to all of that by instantaneously, viscerally, and terribly bending, breaking, and totally remaking itself in response to their game’s evolving requirements to help make possible their latest, greatest, most creative ideas and playstyles. That collapse of a structure sends shockwaves of energy through the very ground of the map’s terrain, through the very walls of buildings, and through all of the objects in the world, and creates new debris and totally new obstacles in its wake.
Through the valleys and the industrial corridors of the map’s terrain, the loud booms of huge explosions reverberate as collapsed walls and ceilings are knocked askew by the force of their own collapse and create new and totally different paths and ways through the ever-evolving landscape of the world of the game. Vehicles slice through solid walls of structure in radical, utterly improvisational U-turns, leaving behind a trail of the map’s greatly-fractured, greatly-distorted geometry that appears to intensely pulse with the very, very recent memory of its own violent impact. Tools of all kinds are used to pound, hack, cut, slice, and vaporize their way through stone and through metal in a rapid-fire, motivated dance of utterly-focused, totally-concentrated, and frequently-frenzied activity as each individual hit adds another completely-new layer to the ever-changing, constantly-reinventing, constantly-evolving landscape of the game’s world. Even the sky above the map is fully involved and completely participating, casting ever-changing, constantly-shifting lights and Odd, Dramatic Shaders down upon the smoldering, cratered, and largely-ruined remains of what was once there to very clearly, very deliberately, and very-h Erectly highlight brand new paths and totally-hidden opportunities for play for the game’s currently active set of players. It’s a total celebratory party as the constantly-reinventing, constantly-adapting environment itself lives to react to, to celebrate, to totally-participate-in, to totally-reflexively-adapt-to, and to totally-help-to-create every single action, every single creative idea, and every single brand new, totally-improvised, and completely unexpected twist and surprise of the game as it is being played by its community of active, creatively-willing, and highly-resourceful and very dedicated players. Even in complete stasis and total, complete, and utter stillness and quiet, the very environment of the game waits patiently with intense anticipation for that next sudden, sharp, and very-violent jolt of pure, creative energy that will drive its constant, tortured, and near-unconscious evolution once again. Players can simply come up with brand new stuff to do and to try at will as they’ll freely experiment with, completely collaborate with others to coordinate in tandem on, or challenge themselves within the much-larger frame of reference of their game’s complete and utter COMMUNITY-Hand-CRAFTED CHALLENGES. Whatever players are up to in the constantly-reinventing, ever-changing world of the game, that same world never ceases to fully and totally celebrative-ly-enthusiastically respond in the most positive way possible to their every action, to every single idea that they even come up with, and to each and every brand new twist, surprise, and totally-improvised innovation that completely and totally arises from the game’s previously-unimagined, totally-dynamic, and much-fun-to-play-to-creativity. The environment is merely a backdrop. The world of game does not simply sit there and exist for you to play within; rather it is completely and totally an active, constantly-adapting, constantly-reaction, and even constantly-inviting participant that’s totally and completely, 100%, geared-up to constantly and completely totally-change to help in every single possible way to fully help and totally enable its communities of highly-creative and constantly-evolving players to constantly, fully, completely, and totally create more and more and even more of everything from completely new things, to total remakes of what already exists, and yes even to completely and totally reinvent just about anything and just about everywhere within the constantly evolving and in many ways nearly-universally-acclaimed world of game.
