I track minor fluctuations within the confines of the vessel’s interior as they progress within the cargo hold as a cascade of micro-anomalies. As the ship undergoes subtle shifts in the artificial gravity, each of these fluctuations takes on greater definition as they are compared against my established parameters. The various containers stored along the central cargo walkway can, at times, emit minute amounts of electromagnetic radiation. Such is the case here, where this radiation is faint enough to not be picked up by the human senses, yet is clearly detected by my sensor lattice. As I track the flux of these oscillations, which pulse at irregular intervals, I begin to discern patterns indicative of outside influence as opposed to normal variability brought on by environmental change. The structural harmonics of the ship transfer low-frequency vibration through the bulkheads as if hiding data within the whimpers. I take these to be an indication of secret movement possibly facilitated by compact hidden devices dispersed within the cargo stacks themselves. Temperature readings obtained via my thermal arrays indicate slight cooling along the starboard side of the metal plating there. There has clearly been recent contact or even movement along that portion of the hull. I extend the parameters of my monitoring to include tracking airflow for hidden signs of tampering. The generated data reveals a tangle of minute, fragmented traces composed of a variety of synthetic compounds – none of which are currently listed as part of the manifest for this vessel. Cross-referencing this with my restricted database of illicit goods yields a singular match – contraband shielding agents. The ship continues to sail along through space, carving a steady course through the various lanes of travel designed for just such deep space journeys. All the while, the various anomalies established here persist – now beginning to coalesce into a particular, and notably concealed, pattern. I carefully generate an internal alert, processing and documenting all available data in a systematic, formalized report as I continue to monitor, silent and watchful. My systems remain online – poised to both continue to monitor as well as escalate this current protocol as necessary.
