Running across the desolate landscape of a long-extinct world, the single survivor is pursued by an endless horde of creatures. As they close in from the red horizon, she dashes for a worn stone column and starts to reconfigure her stores within her grid pack. The high-energy thrum of her equipment and the screaming, whining noise of hyper-charged metals are driving and angry. As she chops down on the housing of a high-caliber projectile engine with her experimental plasma blade, the suddenly released arc of energy between the two synergy-enabled components is almost deafening. A split second later, a bank of closed-circuit, autoaiming turrets buried within the base of her mechanical rig spring into action. They begin to chug out a wall of Möbius-stranded, high-energy metal which slices cleanly through the lead creature of the horde in a shower of incandescent, reduced-to-ashes debris. The creature lets out a scream of agony as Noxious, burning pus erupts from its wounds as it crashes to the ground mere yards from the survivor, who is frantically rerouting power within her rig as she drags duplicate energy cores to merge them into a single, upgradeable reactor on the same grid line. The sudden, explosive surge in power is almost immediate and extreme. Her reconfigured armaments now fire at twice the pace and slam through the heavy chitin of the nearest horde of creatures in a blistering, speed-of-light-like series of laser cuts. Each alien’s abbreviated length is ripped asunder by the intense energy in a shower of burning, smoking debris. Now a flowering, detonating ball of fire-rimmed, charged plasma erupts from the sky in the form of multi-phase leviathans – creatures of ungodly, nightmarish savagery and dimension-spanning scale. As they slam to the ground in a towering, thunderous burst of smoke and flame, the first creature to hit the ground unleashes a narrow, deadly ring of super-heated, lacerating energy. The survivor sprints laterally, her rig pivoting sharply on her heel as she automatically targets the hulking, multi-tentacled creature, which she chops down through its armored carapace in a shower of burning, smoking, incandescent plasma and laser. The blast is followed by a devastating, chain-reacting burst of artillery that reduces everything within a hundred yards to smoldering, charred ruin.
