Building Sprawling Vampire Fortresses Block by Single Block…

Unlocking Ancient Power through Calculated Room Placement Options

by RiftMode

At midnight, the valley was consumed by an eternal silence. The only sound to penetrate the stillness was that of stone falling upon stone, rhythmically building a monster below. Block upon monumental block of madness, the structure rose up towards the turbulent skies, piercing through a sea of mist and cloud. Every newly completed room was a huge, masculine, spacey counterbalance. Each required the greatest skill and the most stubborn determination to complete. The single subterranean vault, a simple Sanctum Sanctorum of a space draped in silk, was its own powerful entity, separate and remote from the rest. But one wrongly placed corridor could bring the whole lot crashing about one’s ears. Nights of Gothic monoliths groaning beneath the weight of musty tomes and empty, bare turrets slowly collapsed in on themselves through the moon-lit, disturbed air. Yet, new Ventures, of equal or greater magnitude, were continually being added to the mountainous structure. But none of it would last forever. There was always some lurking, massive monolith waiting to be toppled in the valley below. The skill to complete such structures lay in the ability to juggle a handful of stones, randomly distributed, yet more than adequate to the task at hand. The construction of such towering bastions to last the ages of brutal, military dictatorship, or alternatively to witness a collapse of such utter proportions, all rested on the shoulders of one person, who had to use his limited supply of building materials to their full potential. He would utilize them as fearful defenses against the inevitable collapse that would bring all of his long, arduous toil crashing down to the ground, in a cloud of dust, in an instant. These brief interludes of freedom and leisure were spent frantically ‘investing’ a fortune in the most exquisite of single rooms, and stocking them with an enormous quantity of luminous gems of the highest quality. This would postpone the date of collapse for just a little while longer.
